FACIAL REDNESS & BLOOD VESSELS

Rosacea is an extremely common chronic skin disorder in women with fair skin. The exact cause is somewhat of a mystery, however most dermatologists believe it is due to genetic factors combined with abnormalities of the nerves and blood vessels of the skin. Rosacea presents in many forms and is typically characterized by persistent redness and broken enlarged blood vessels in the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead.  Small bumps and acne like pimples can occur as well.

Given that rosacea occurs on the face, it can be frustrating and socially stigmatizing. It can significantly impact a woman’s quality of life, decreasing her ability to engage in personal and professional affairs.

Fortunately, there are a variety of effective medical and procedural treatments that improve the appearance of the skin affected by rosacea. At Dana Point Dermatology, our clinicians will thoroughly assess your specific pattern of rosacea and discuss the various treatment options available to you.
