Eyelid Enhancements in Charlotte

The effects of time are inevitable. The eyes and eyebrows are often the first areas to show signs of aging. The skin slowly loses its elasticity and the effects of sun, smoking and the pull of gravity all affect the face. This results in frown lines, wrinkling across the forehead and an increasing heaviness to the skin of the eyebrows and upper eyelids. Patients frequently tell us that their eyes make them look older than they feel. They may also appear tired, angry, or sad, merely because of the wrinkles, drooping, and excess skin of the forehead, brows and eyelids.

A blepharoplasty will help open up your eyes and elevate your brows, giving you a more alert, youthful, and refreshed look. Often the brow contributes to the tired, drooping appearance around the eyes. In these cases, your surgeon may recommend a combination of a brow lift and a blepharoplasty in order to achieve a satisfying upper facial rejuvenation. Your surgeon may discuss this possibility with you during your consultation.

Upper Blepharoplasty: Over time the skin of the upper lids starts drooping, and the clean line of the eyelid crease is lost. An upper eyelid lift removes excess skin and fat, restoring a more youthful appearance. Since the incision is hidden along the natural folds of the upper lid, it is almost imperceptible after healing. Through the incision excess fat, muscle and loose skin is removed. The surgery is performed by itself or in combination with a lower eyelid lift, a brow or forehead lift, or a facelift.

Lower Blepharoplasty/Mid-face Lift: These techniques are performed to improve the appearance of the lower eyelids and upper cheeks (mid-face). Lower lid blepharoplasty addresses the excess lower eyelid skin and puffiness. A mid-face lift takes this procedure a step further by performing a lower eyelid lift while rejuvenating the cheeks and upper face. The incisions for the procedures are concealed either on the inside of the eyelid or just at the lashes. Recovery time is similar to an upper lid blepharoplasty.
